The Parterre is pure elegance – the Grace Kelly of the chardonnay collection.  Recognisable by the signature lime cordial core, the wine is beautifully structured – this one’s a keeper. Tinted Pale green in the glass, the 2018 smells of apple blossom , lime and when it drops a degree or two, sweet pastry. The fruit is laced with subtle oak, an understated creaminess and a lingering finish. Your Settlers correspondent was on hand to taste through eight vintages of Parterre Chardonnay (it’s a tough job, but we struggle through!) and the ‘18 emerged as group bracket winner and overall personal favourite. If you like your chardonnay a little lighter on it’s feet or you have room in your cellar, wine fridge or spare room to let this one rest for a spell then the Parterre is a great choice.
